Your guide to using GIO Online Services

GIO Online Services are our web based tool which makes lodging and managing your motor claims simple. You can make claims, renew policies and update your details. Managing all aspects of your car insurance policy has never been easier.
First things first, you need to register
If you haven’t already done so, it’s easy to register for GIO Online Services. Have your policy number handy; it makes the process much smoother. You can find it on your Certificate of Insurance, which you should have received when you first bought your policy.
If you don’t know your policy number, we can help you find it. When you register for Online Services, we will ask you to provide details like your address, email, and phone number. These details need to match with those you entered to obtain your policy.
Do it all with the GIO App
While you can easily access GIO Online Services on your laptop or desktop computer, you can also experience the convenience of the GIO App. Our app is your portable link to GIO Online Services and allows you to:
- check and update your personal details
- make, track and manage motor claims
- chat with our virtual assistant, and
- get weather alerts.
This video can guide you through the steps to getting started.
Getting started with the GIO app has never been easier, allowing you to make claims and manage your policy wherever you are.
To begin, download the GIO app from the App Store or Google Play, once downloaded open the app.
If you haven't used the GIO app or GIO online services before, click Get Started to set up an account.
To set up your account you'll be asked to accept our terms and conditions, to read them click Terms and Conditions.
When you're ready press Accept to continue.
There are three steps to set up your account.
Step one: fill out the new user form.
Step two: enter your best email address
and the mobile number. Just ensure you use the same mobile number you have registered on your policy.
Step three: create a password.
When creating your password remember to follow the requirements.
When you've chosen your password press Done, then Sign Up.
It's best to store that password somewhere secure so you don't forget it.
But if you do, don't worry, you can always reset it.
You will receive a verification email within a few minutes of signing up.
If you haven't received it, check your junk and spam folders.
Once you have received it, open the email and click link to verify.
Back in the app, it's time to link your insurance policy.
Once you have logged in for the first time, you'll be asked if you
want to link your policy, press Link Policies Now.
Fill in your policy number and date of birth.
Your policy number can be found on your certificate of insurance that you received when you first purchased your policy.
Once you've pressed Next, we'll send a verification code to your mobile number, once verified your policy will be linked.
You can now manage your details from the GIO app.
You can also link other policies, or get a quote for a new policy from the home screen.

The GIO App makes lodging a claim easy
Many people believe that when you have been involved in an accident involving your insured car, you first need to call your insurance company. But with GIO, you can easily lodge a claim through the GIO App. Just log in, select your car insurance policy, and click ‘make a claim’ to begin.
After you’ve submitted your claim online, we’ll give you a claim number and get in touch shortly after. You’ll also be able to track the progress of your claim online.

It's easy with the GIO App.

Once you are set up, choose the policy you would like to claim on.
You can also make a claim from the claim section of the app by selecting the plus button, which will trigger a list of your policies you can claim against.
Then confirm the policy you would like to claim on.
Fill out all the details surrounding the incident, date, location, what happened and damage to your vehicle.
Next, fill out both parties' driving details.
This could either be your own or whoever was driving your vehicle at the time of the incident.
Finally, confirm that all the details are correct before lodging the claim.
You can also lodge a claim online at gio.com.au/claims using the same steps as you would for the app.

If you haven’t downloaded the GIO App yet you can always use GIO’s Online Services to make a claim.
You can update your car insurance policy through the GIO App
Have you moved interstate and need to update your car registration details? Or have your kids finally got their P plates and started using your car? It’s easy to update your policy to reflect these changes. It’s important to note that changing your location and adding drivers may affect your premium. If it does, you’ll see your updated premium on the screen once you’ve confirmed the changes. Our video guide below can act as a helpful guide to navigating the GIO App.

you can manage your GIO policy, here's how.
With GIO, managing your policy online has never been easier.
In the time it takes to toast some bread, you can update your details and policy using the GIO app or by visiting our website.
First, let's look at how you can manage your policy with the GIO app.
To change your details, such as your phone number or address, first, open the app.
From the home screen, tap the insurance policy you want to update.
This will take you to a screen with more information about your policy.
Press Update to begin making your changes.
Once opened, you'll see a list of options that you can update.
Select Contact details right at the bottom for updating things like your email, address, and phone number.
It's that easy.
If you want to update details on your GIO policy using your home computer or laptop, begin by visiting our website.
Once you've logged in to your GIO profile and on the home screen, select the policy you want to manage.
In this case, let's select the motor insurance policy.
A popup box like this should appear with details about your vehicle's make and model right up the top, policy details to the bottom right, and to the left, a list of actions in blue.
Click Update policy on the left-hand side of the popup box.
You'll be presented with a range of options to update both your personal details or your car details.
If perhaps you've started catching public transport to work and you want to update your driving habits, you would click on Driving habits.
Fill out any questions asked, then click Continue.
You may now be notified of a change in your premium.
A range of factors may influence your premium, including driving habits.
Click Confirm if you're happy with this.
Finally, a popup box may appear asking you to confirm you've answered truthfully and accurately.
Only check this box if you've read through this information and understand that it is your responsibility to not make a misrepresentation.
Once you're ready, click Continue.
And that's it, all done.
GIO will send you your new certificate of insurance within the next five business days.

Receive weather updates from GIO
Picture this – you’re at the shops and receive a notification on your phone that hail is on the way. You quickly finish your errands, hop in the car, drive home, and park your car under cover, potentially avoiding hail damage. Pretty handy, right?
With the GIO App, you can choose to receive weather alert notifications. That way you may be able to avoid dangerous weather, and keep you and your car out of harm’s way. Watch the video below to find out how to toggle these weather alert features on and off.

Head over to the GIO app to turn on Weather Alerts so you can be ready the
next time a storm comes.
The GIO app also includes a hail warning feature to help you avoid hail damage to your car.
First, open the app and head to your profile.
Press Notifications and to toggle Weather Alerts On.
