Can I renew my Green Slip term to 6 months?

If you have a light vehicle (i.e. vehicles with GVM less than 4.5 tonnes), you can choose to insure and register for either a 6 month or 12 month term. If you want a 6 month term, both the Green Slip and Registration need to be paid or completed within 21 days of the registration due date. This is called the ‘Use-by’ date and is shown on the Green Slip. If the Green Slip ‘Use-by’ date has expired (i.e. exceeded 21 days), then you can only register for a 12-month period, unless there are ‘extenuating circumstances’ for us to accept the late payment. How long does it take for my CTP Green Slip to go through to TfNSW?

It depends on the method you use to pay for your CTP Green Slip . If you pay online, by phone, or at a GIO Agency, it will be sent to TfNSW within an hour of payment. If you pay at an Australian Post Office, it will take up to 2 business days for payment to reach TfNSW.

How can I change my address?

Your CTP is directly linked to your vehicle’s registration. That means when you change your address with Service NSW , it will automatically update your CTP. Learn more about CTP insurance

What if I have recently acquired a vehicle that is due for registration?

Once you acquire a new vehicle, it’s important to complete a change of ownership with Service NSW to transfer the registration into your name. This is the case whether or not your new car is due for registration renewal. Learn more about CTP insurance
