Third Party Car Insurance only covers damage your car causes to other people’s vehicles or property, while Comprehensive Car Insurance covers that plus loss or damage caused by insured events to your own vehicle.

GIO Comprehensive Car Insurance offers broader cover, including cover for:

  • accidental collisions
  • theft and attempted theft
  • fire, including bushfire, and
  • weather events like storms, floods or hail.

GIO Third Party Car Insurance covers much less. It covers:

  • liability for damage caused to other people’s vehicles and property.

With the GIO Fire, Theft and Third Party Property Damage policy, damage to your vehicle caused by fire and theft is also covered. Regular Third Party does not cover damage from fire or theft.
