If the accident is not my fault, can I get a hire car if I don’t have the optional cover?
If you have GIO Comprehensive or Fire, Theft and Third Party Property Damage, or Third Party Property Insurance you may be entitled to a hire car if you’ve had an incident that’s not your fault and you can supply us with the name, address and vehicle registration of the at fault driver. In this case, we’ll arrange and pay for you to have a hire car that meets your transport needs while your car is being repaired.
If you are a GIO Platinum customer, you can claim under the GIO Platinum Hire Car feature. This automatically covers you for unlimited hire of a ‘similar make or model’ hire car (up to $100/day) no matter who is at fault.
Limits, exclusions and conditions apply. See the PDS for full details.
Please note: You may not be able to use the hire car for ridesharing purposes and hire car cannot be used by learner drivers.
