Frequently asked questions
For making a payment
If you have just moved to NSW and your vehicle is still registered interstate, you will still be able to purchase a Green Slip to establish your registration by providing a vehicle identifier.
That depends on how you make your payment. If you pay by phone, internet or in person at a GIO or Suncorp Bank Branch, an eGreen Slip will be sent to the RMS within 1 hour. If you pay at Australia Post or by BPAY, allow up to 3 business days for an eGreen Slip to be sent to the RMS.
Short Term Registration (STR) is a change to the NSW registration scheme that allows the majority of vehicles to be registered for periods of less than 12 months. Previously, these vehicles were only able to register annually.
