To lodge your claim, one of our friendly staff will be there to take care of your nominated beneficiaries or your legal personal representative. Please have the policy number on hand as well as date and cause of death. During the phone call we will take your representative through a few questions and declarations. At the end of the call we will email through the information we require which will need to be returned to us as soon as possible. If you are lodging an Early Benefit Payment claim we will require forms to be completed, we will provide these to you.

Gather required infoHere are some examples of what we may need

  • Certified copy of the death certificate or proof of passing;
  • Certified proof of identity for both Life Insured and Beneficiary/Joint policy owner (birth certificate, driver’s license or passport);
  • If there is no joint policy owner and a valid beneficiary nomination was not made, a certified copy of the deceased’s Will.

If claiming the Early Payment Benefit

  • Completed claim form by you and your medical practitioner
  • Certified proof of identity (birth certificate, driver’s license or passport)
  • Any additional information in support of your claim

Depending on your circumstances, we may require other information.

Assessment

Funeral insurance claims are generally reviewed within 24 hours of receipt of all claim requirements. Early Payment Benefit claims generally take 3-4 business days, however the length of time can vary depending on the circumstances of the claim and how quickly we receive everything. The dedicated claims advisor will keep your representative updated of the progress.

Payout

Once the claim has been accepted, payment will usually be made within two business days, to the surviving policy owner or nominated beneficiaries, or if there are no nominated beneficiaries, to the deceased’s estate.
