What is third party insurance?
Third party property damage insurance is a policy designed to help if your car causes damage to someone else’s vehicle or property. GIO Third Party Property Damage covers your legal liability for damage caused by your car, up to $20 million.
It does not cover damage to your own car (except for certain incidents if you have Fire, Theft and Third Party cover). For that, consider GIO Comprehensive Car Insurance.
It’s also different from Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance (known as Green Slip in NSW or Motor Accident Injury Insurance in ACT), which is mandatory for registered vehicles and covers injuries to people, but doesn’t cover damage to cars or property.
