Financial relief

We know that thousands of Aussies, including many GIO customers, may experience financial hardship within the next few months. We may be able to help.*

*For a limited time, we have special relief options for Victorians suffering financial hardship due to COVID-19. Eligible products are GIO Home, Contents, Car, Boat, Caravan and Motorcycle policies with a start date on or before 3 August 2020 and renewals of those policies.

Travel Insurance

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian Government advises against overseas travel. GIO is temporarily suspending the sale and renewal of all travel insurance policies.

Workers Compensation

People are one of the most important assets for a business and we are committed to supporting your workers and business get back on track.

For existing GIO Workers Compensation customers1 who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, and have temporarily paused operations, you can request a mid-term wage adjustment2 to reflect significant changes in payroll as a result of a reduction in employees which may mean a lower premium for you.3

2. Mid-term wage adjustments are limited to 2 changes per policy period. Final adjustments are made at the end of the policy term.

3. Refunds will be provided where applicable, however, minimum premiums apply and the minimum premium is not refundable.

We recommend that you refer to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Smartraveller website. Also, speak to your travel provider about your options.
