Your guide to using GIO Online Services

GIO Online Services are our web based tool which makes lodging and managing your motor claims simple. You can make claims, renew policies and update your details. Managing all aspects of your car insurance policy has never been easier.

First things first, you need to register

If you haven’t already done so, it’s easy to register for GIO Online Services. Have your policy number handy; it makes the process much smoother. You can find it on your Certificate of Insurance, which you should have received when you first bought your policy.

If you don’t know your policy number, we can help you find it. When you register for Online Services, we will ask you to provide details like your address, email, and phone number. These details need to match with those you entered to obtain your policy.

Do it all with the GIO App

While you can easily access GIO Online Services on your laptop or desktop computer, you can also experience the convenience of the GIO App. Our app is your portable link to GIO Online Services and allows you to:

  • check and update your personal details
  • make, track and manage motor claims
  • chat with our virtual assistant, and
  • get weather alerts.

The GIO App makes lodging a claim easy

Many people believe that when you have been involved in an accident involving your insured car, you first need to call your insurance company. But with GIO, you can easily lodge a claim through the GIO App. Just log in, select your car insurance policy, and click ‘make a claim’ to begin.

After you’ve submitted your claim online, we’ll give you a claim number and get in touch shortly after. You’ll also be able to track the progress of your claim online.

You can update your car insurance policy through the GIO App

Have you moved interstate and need to update your car registration details? Or have your kids finally got their P plates and started using your car? It’s easy to update your policy to reflect these changes. It’s important to note that changing your location and adding drivers may affect your premium. If it does, you’ll see your updated premium on the screen once you’ve confirmed the changes. Our video guide below can act as a helpful guide to navigating the GIO App.

Receive weather updates from GIO

Picture this – you’re at the shops and receive a notification on your phone that hail is on the way. You quickly finish your errands, hop in the car, drive home, and park your car under cover, potentially avoiding hail damage. Pretty handy, right?

With the GIO App, you can choose to receive weather alert notifications. That way you may be able to avoid dangerous weather, and keep you and your car out of harm’s way. Watch the video below to find out how to toggle these weather alert features on and off.
