Introduction to RTW Co-ordination (WorkCover Accredited) - 2 days

This WorkCover accredited course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to effectively coordinate workplace injury and illness. In NSW, a category 1 employer (An employer with greater than 20 employees or a base tariff premium greater than $50,000 per year), is required under Workers’ Compensation legislation to employ or engage a person as a Return to Work Coordinator who must attend this course.

Key topics include:

  • Overview of the WorkCover scheme;
  • Employers Workplace Rehabilitation Program; and
  • Role of the RTW Coordinator.

Health and Safety Representative (HSR) – 5 Days

The purpose of this course is for you to acquire the knowledge and skills to enable you to exercise your powers for the purpose of promoting and ensuring the health and safety at work for members of your work group.

Topics covered include:
WHS Legislation and supporting materials; WorkCover role and enforcement measures; Requirements for consultation on work health and safety issues and workgroups; Effective consultation; Requirements, functions and powers of a HSR; Role of the Health and Safety Committee (HSC) and other arrangements; Managing Risks; Workplace Inspections; Issue Resolution and Negotiation Skills; Provisional Improvement Notices; and requirements for directing unsafe work to cease.

The course meets the requirements for elected HSRs and deputy HSRs under the WHS Act.

Who Should Attend
Elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and Elected Deputy Health and Safety Representatives (Deputy HSRs) under the WHS Act 2011 NSW who have requested approved training and have not completed the previous course in OHS Consultation within the past two years.

HSR Bridging Course – 1 day

The purpose of this course is for you to acquire the additional knowledge and skills required to enable you to exercise your new powers and fulfil your role for the purpose of promoting and ensuring the health and safety at work of members of your work group. The course is also intended to assist HSRs and deputy HSRs understand how the WHS legislation will influence health and safety outcomes in their workplace.

Topics covered include:
WHS Legislative framework and supporting Regulations and Codes of Practice; new WHS terminology; the role of the Regulator and enforcement measures; functions and powers of a HSR; issue resolution and negotiation skills; Health and Safety Committees (HSCs) and other arrangements; managing risks; and Provisional Improvement Notices and directing unsafe work to cease.

Who Should Attend
The target audience for delivery of this course includes all elected OHS Committee members or OHS Representatives in NSW who have been deemed HSRs or Deputy HSRs under the WHS Act who have requested training to gain an understanding of the management of work health and safety under the WHS framework; and have completed the previous WorkCover approved course in OHS Consultation within the past two years.

What You Need to Bring
Workplace resources you are required to bring for the course include; Certificate from the 4 day Consultation course showing it being completed within the past 2 years, WHS Issue Resolution Procedure, Risk Management Process.
