Prevention and Management of Psych Injuries
- 2 hrs

Psychological injuries continue to be a major concern to employers nationwide and are consistently among the most expensive injuries. This workshop, in conjunction with our professional providers, will look at causes of psychological injuries; what the legislation says; legal issues within Psych claims; and effective management of psych injuries.

Creating a Drug-Safe Workplace - 2 hrs

In workplace incidents that show alcohol and/or drugs have been a contributing factor it is likely that the insurance cover will be voided. Considering over 70% of drug users are employed, GIO with Frontline diagnostics will help to educate employers on the risks, legalities and how to make your workplace drug free.

Establishing a robust and mature safety management system – half day

Key to managing health and safety risks is the implementation of a robust and mature risk management system. A safety management system and its associated procedures and tools provide the framework needed for a coordinated and systematic approach to managing health and safety risks.

This course introduces participants to the key elements of a safety management system (SMS).  Participants will be provided with guidance on how to bring their organisation’s existing policies and procedures into a systematic and relevant approach and identify gaps and areas for development.

Suncorp Risk Services, the course facilitators, have over 10 years experience providing risk management support and services. SRS consultants have worked with State and Local Government and Industry as risk practitioners across work health and safety, enterprise risk, and operational risk roles. Our service offering focuses on building risk management capability within organisations.

There is a minimum number for this course of 10 participants.

Establishing your framework for WHS consultation – half day

A safe workplace is more easily achieved when everyone involved in the work, communicates with each other to identify hazards and risks, talks about any health and safety concerns and works together to find solutions. This includes cooperation between the people who manage or control the work and those who carry out the work or who are affected by the work.

This course will provide an opportunity to review the requirements of the WHS legislation and your organisation’s consultation framework. It will provide case studies, presentations and workshops to assist you to review your current consultation framework and develop an action plan to align with the WHS legislation.

Drug and Alcohol Awareness - 1.5hrs

Alcohol and other drugs can have a significant impact on workplace health and safety. Commonly used drugs have a variety of effects on users depending on the type and amount of the substance consumed, including a decrease in mental and physical capabilities which can lead to accidents, risky behaviour, poor judgement, loss of control, and long-term health effects.

The Kinetic Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training course has been designed to equip companies with an understanding of rights and responsibilities in relation to alcohol and other drugs at the workplace.

Fatigue Management - 4hrs

This nationally accredited training program has been designed to meet the needs of participants who deal with fatigue-related hazards in the workplace.

Fatigue is a general term used to describe the feeling of being excessively tired, drained or exhausted. It is accompanied by poor judgment, impairment, slower reactions to events and decreased skills. This course has been designed to give participants the knowledge and skills to identify, assess, control and prevent workplace hazards related to fatigue. The training provides participants with a range of individual prevention strategies to adopt in both their personal lives and at work.
