GIO Insurance is available in NSW, ACT, VIC, WA & NT. Key features of 55UP Home and Contents Insurance are -

	Automatic flood cover You will automatically receive cover for loss or damage caused by rain, wind, storm and flood. This includes damage from flash floods, storms, rising rivers and tsunamis as well as flooding from dishwashers, hot water systems and burst pipes. Actions or movements of the sea and leaks from showers are not covered.
	Lifetime Guarantee We guarantee the quality of materials and workmanship of repairs that we authorise and arrange for the lifetime of your home.
	Safety Net Home Protection GIO will pay up to 25% extra protection on your home cover if costs to replace your damaged home exceed your sum insured.
	New for old replacement If your home is damaged beyond repair or your belongings are damaged or stolen, we will replace your home and contents items new for old, regardless of their age.
	Temporary accommodation costs GIO will pay up to 12 months temporary accommodation costs during repairs if your home is damaged and unliveable.
	Home Assist Access to legal, medical or property maintenance advice services through GIO Home Assist. A range of service providers are on hand to assist you via the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
	24 Hour Claims Service We have a dedicated claims hotline providing a paperless claims service where you can talk to someone 24 hours a day, every day of the year

A GIO 55UP Home and Contents Insurance policy provides the following additional features and benefits.

• Eco-friendly insurance features

  GIO will pay up to $2,500 to install a rainwater tank solution or solar powered heating facility if we are rebuilding or repairing more than 80% of your home, and they were not part of your home before your claim.

  GIO will replace your damaged white goods with ones that have a minimum 3 star energy rating, even if your white good had a lower rating. These include your fridge, freezer, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and air conditioner.

• Accidental damage

  You will be covered for accidentally losing or breaking something in the home. For example, we cover damaged tiles when you accidentally drop a saucepan on them, bench tops when they are scorched by a hot object, carpet when you accidentally spill red wine on it and paintings when they fall off a wall.

• Motor burnout

  You will be covered for the replacement of household electric motors less than 11 years old, which are part of the insured Home or Contents. Examples include electric motors in a pool pump, refrigerator, air conditioner, dishwasher and washing machines.

• Injury to pet dogs and cats

  Your pet dog or cat will be covered up to $500 for necessary veterinary treatment if they are injured in an accident. Examples of injuries covered include shoulder, leg, muscle or ligament sprains, accidents with vehicles, injuries from falls and tick and snake bites.

• Mortgagee’s interest

  You will be covered for the outstanding amount of the mortgage on your unit if the building containing your unit is damaged by an insured event and the building cover falls short, and the mortgagee claims on you.

• Domestic Workers Compensation (only available in ACT and WA)

  We cover workers compensation on your domestic employees (e.g. a babysitter, domestic cleaner etc) if your employee is injured while working for you.
