Important Information
Duty of Disclosure
If you purchase insurance from GIO, the information you provide during Online Quote and Purchase (including the answers to any questions we have asked you) will form part of your application for insurance.
Before commencing the Online Quote therefore it is very important that we have explained your Duty of Disclosure obligations.
What you must tell us? When answering our questions, you must be honest and you have a duty under law to tell us anything known to you, and which a reasonable person in the circumstances, would include in answer to the question. We will use the answers in deciding whether to insure you and anyone else to be insured under the policy, and on what terms.
Who does the duty apply to? It is important that you understand you are answering our questions in this way for yourself and anyone else that you want to be covered by the policy.
What happens if you fail in your duty? If you do not answer our questions in this way, we may reduce or refuse to pay a claim, or cancel the policy. If you answer our questions fraudulently, we may refuse to pay a claim and treat the policy as never having existed.
By proceeding you agree that you have read and understand your Duty of Disclosure.
Product Disclosure Statement

It is very important that you read the PDS so that you understand what is covered and not covered.
By proceeding you are agreeing to the PDS being made available to you via this website and confirming that you have read the PDS. If you buy insurance from us, a PDS will also be sent to you in the mail.
Your Privacy
Any personal information you provide in using Online Quote and Purchase is collected, used and disclosed by GIO in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
In addition to the purposes of collection set out in our Privacy Policy and Privacy Statement, we may also disclose your personal information to other companies in the Suncorp group with whom you hold a product so they can manage, administer and improve customer service in respect of such products. By proceeding you agree to us disclosing your personal information to other companies in the Suncorp group for these purposes.
Terms of Use
Your access and use of this Online Quote and Purchase tool constitutes your agreement to these Terms of Use. These Terms of Use incorporate the terms and conditions set out in the disclaimer. If you are not buying the insurance on the day you obtain your quote, you should review the current Terms of Use, before buying any policy of insurance with GIO.
As with many general insurers, the terms of our insurance vary from the standard cover specified in the Insurance Contracts Act 1984. It is important that you read the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and understand the cover that is provided in, or is excluded by the PDS.
The quote is available for 30 days from the date it is generated. It is not a contract
of insurance and does not provide cover. If you complete Online Quote and Purchase
and your application is accepted, you will be given a policy number. Your cover
will start from the date you specify:
- If it's today. Your cover will start immediately.
- If it's a day in the future. You'll be covered from midnight the day before.
Please Notefor Home and Contents Insurance products there is NO cover for bushfires, storms or floods for the first 72 hours from the start of cover. Some limited exceptions apply so read the Product Disclosure Statement for full details.
